The Future’s Not Ours to See

Doris Day’s cheery little number from the 1950s still rings true. None of us can predict the future.

Yet we allow anxiety to reside unchecked in our minds.

Anxiety is nothing more than fear of a negative outcome. An outcome we can’t predict.

It’s worrying about a future that hasn’t happened yet, rather than being present here and now.

Anxiety can be paralyzing, debilitating, and destructive, as we obsess and prepare ourselves for the worst.

Could our worries come true? Of course. Or maybe not. Or to a different extent.

Our anxiety doesn’t change the outcome. But being present can better inform our response.

Some Big News

A few months ago I posted asking for input on two questions: your biggest obstacle in getting started on something, and what skill you’d like to master. I got a ton of great feedback, and I’ve been incorporating it into a new resource we’re preparing to launch. I’m really stoked about this and can’t wait to share.

I’ll be posting info on this in the coming days, and sending out a newsletter with the details. Watch this space, as they say…

Quick Updates

Closing out Season 16 of Insights In Sound, we recently posted episodes with Skywalker Sound’s audio legend Leslie Ann Jones, Cherokee Studios co-founder Bruce Robb, and a two-parter with Blackbird Studio and Blackbird Academy’s founder and non-stop bundle of energy, John McBride.

Coming up we’ve got chats with storied engineer and one-mic recording guru John Cuniberti, live sound wisdom from the legendary Pab Boothroyd, and a chat with synthesizer icon Tom Oberheim. Subscribe to the YouTube channel and this newsletter for the latest.

As I mentioned up top, some really cool stuff in the works, which we’ll be talking about reeeeeeal soon.

Until next time…stay curious.
