Saying Yes

It’s long been a recurring conversation with so many of my friends and colleagues: how many times we’ve said yes without a clue about what we were getting ourselves into.

Often it’s an unexpected opportunity. An unplanned diversion from where we thought we were headed. A spontaneous decision to jump in at the deep end. Taking a gamble on our ability to figure it out as we go.

Sometimes it works out well. Sometimes we do a faceplant.

But it’s always an opportunity. Another step along the road we’re building as we walk on it.

We’re all making it up as we go. It’s up to us to enjoy the journey.

Quick Updates

Hard to believe we’re coming up on four years and 160 episodes of Insights In Sound, I feel truly fortunate to be able to share the wisdom of so many brilliant humans, and to learn how much we all have in common.

Season 16 has already featured episodes with

legendary engineer/producer Niko Bolas, Seal Team sound designer Charles Maynes, composer Jeff Fair, and electronic music historian Dr. Tom Rhea, as well as a fun demo on Mid-Side miking with Dusty Wakeman of Mojave Audio.

Next up are chats with Skywalker Sound’s Leslie Ann Jones, Cherokee Studios co-founder Bruce Robb, and Blackbird Academy founder John McBride. Subscribe to the YouTube channel and this newsletter for the latest.

Several other projects in the works as well. Some I can talk about, some are still under wraps. As always, saying yes to lots of adventures in different directions. It’s all about the journey.
